Christmas Time Lord

I've only seen the preview of A Christmas Carol and already I love it! Maybe I'm biased, but really... The Doctor coming down a chimney, Michael Gambon being all Scroogey and brilliant, lots of snow, Amy, Rory and Katherine Jenkins all looking fab and that last line. What's not to love?
If you didn't catch it on BBC ONE or want to see it again, check out the preview (above) now!
During 2010's Children in Need we got our first proper look at this year's Christmas adventure. Filming on the one-hour special wrapped in August and it had already been confirmed that the acclaimed Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, The Singing Detective) and opera diva Katherine Jenkins would be joining Matt Smith (the Doctor), Karen Gillan (Amy) and Arthur Darvill (Rory). Executive Producer and lead writer, Steven Moffat, had earlier revealed that 'It's all your favourite Christmas movies at once' and the preview underlined this, with scenes and sets awash with festive touches.
But who is Michael Gambon's cantankerous character and what forces does the Doctor face? What are Amy and Rory up to? And why does the Doctor proclaim he is the Ghost of Christmas Past? All will be revealed next month...
Doctor Who's inclusion in Children in Need also featured a dream-come-true day for two young people who got to have tea in the TARDIS! If you'd like to discover who benefits from your support of Children in Need, and to find out how to make a donation, please visit the official website.

The Vashta Nerada Return in our latest Adventure Game! 2nd Dec 2010

The wait is almost over and it's nearly time for you to step back into a world of danger and excitement and become the Doctor! The fourth Adventure Game is entitled Shadows of the Vashta Nerada and will be a Christmas release, available on this site (www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho). That means you'll be able to spend the festive period fighting terrifying aliens with a penchant for consuming human flesh. That's got to be better than another turkey sandwich, hasn't it?
Kicking off immediately after the cliff-hanger ending of episode three, the latest Adventure Game picks up the story of the Doctor and Amy who've materialised just south of London (and about a 1000 miles to the left), inside a sea-bed colony called Poseidon. Shadows of the Vashta Nerada features a cracking plot which surrounds a real-world conspiracy and, of course, it takes place at Christmas.
'We've gone all-out for the season finale,' says Steven Moffat, executive producer and lead writer, Doctor Who. 'Shadows of the Vashta Nerada takes place entirely underwater - something which would be impossible for the TV series, as water is so expensive. It's thrilling, terrifying, educational and fun. Just steer clear of those shadows...'
Shadows of the Vashta Nerada will be released simultaneously on PC and Mac and available for no extra cost to UK households. Users outside the UK will be able to purchase and download it - we'll have more details about this nearer the release.
The game was written by Phil Ford (City of the Daleks, Torchwood) and executive produced by Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis and Anwen Aspden (BBC Wales, Interactive), alongside Charles Cecil.
And one more piece of good news! The press release announcing Shadows of the Vashta Nerada assures us that the Adventure Games will return in 2011...
The first three games, City of the DaleksBlood of the Cybermen and TARDIS are available now!

Doctor in the House 01st Dec 2010

It's Day One of the 2010 Christmas Adventure Calendar... hurray! And to get us in the festive mood we've a brand new game of Doctor in the House!
The game first materialised last year and old hands will recall that you have to sneakily use as many quotations from the Doctor as possible. Use the guile of a Time Lord to win big points! Download Doctor in the House to find out the rules and find the new quotes for this year's version. And even if you don't fancy playing the game (is that possible?) then why not peruse the quotations and see how many you recognise... can you say what episodes the lines are from? We'll publish the answers soon...
But before that, let the festive fun begin! Download Doctor in the House (pdf 2mb) now...and good luck!

What's in Your TARDIS?

asked Matt Smith and Karen Gillan what they would like in their TARDIS if they had one in real life. Their answers may surprise and hopefully inspire you.
